Clinical Assessments
The children and families we serve have complex behavioral health needs, as well as other medically complex challenges. That’s why Alabama MENTOR uses a process of continual assessment, planning and treatment review. This process helps ensure that those needs are identified and the right services are used to meet them.
This process begins with a Comprehensive Clinical Assessment for each child, which identifies:
- The behavioral health challenges they are facing and the areas of life where they are having difficulty (family, school, physical health, etc).
- Their natural strengths and abilities for dealing with challenges and crises.
- The service or mix of services that can help them grow and reach their potential.
Each child’s assessment is an ongoing process. After treatment begins, they are continually assessed to ensure that their treatment plan continues to meet their needs. Adjustments to treatment may be made as the child’s and family’s needs change and to support them as they move forward.
